can bring the whole family, because Dr. Butler and his team will make young
patients of all ages feel comfortable in their care. We administer the
latest advancements in children's dentistry and do so with gentle
thoughtfulness. We want your children to maintain their natural teeth for a
lifetime, so we teach them proper daily dental hygiene. We look forward to
their first visit at age 6 and every year thereafter.
We want all generations of children to feel relaxed and confident for their treatment. We provide a happy environment and a friendliness that makes children feel at ease. Our parents have been very pleased that we can help with an active or scared child so they can actually enjoy their visits.
As children's teeth are very prone to cavities during their growing
years, we emphasize the importance of taking good care of their teeth. We
ask parents to supervise their brushing and flossing until they have learned
to do a good job on their own.
Children often eat throughout the day, called "grazing," and this causes more continual exposure to acid on their teeth. Improperly cleaned teeth also stimulate the production of acid, which will increase cavity development. We recommend improved dietary choices and better dental hygiene. One application of a fluoride varnish will also mineralize the teeth and greatly help to reduce the onset of decay.
Children often do not do the best job of brushing their teeth. And
sometimes, even meticulous care misses some of the grooves and contours in
the back teeth. As bacteria and acid are allowed to collect on the surface
of teeth, the formation of plaque will start the process of decay. Even a
small amount of decay in a tooth is permanent damage and requires a filling.
But there is a way to keep this from happening. One application of a dental sealant will greatly help! This is the procedure that takes just minutes: The teeth are sterilized before a thin coat of the sealant is applied. It is not noticeable, as it is clear or white in color. With a curing light, Dr. Butler bonds the sealant to the tooth. And that is the whole treatment! No shots or drilling are necessary. It's safe and one of the best preventive treatments there is. This is effective for both children and adolescents in helping them to preserve their natural teeth.

As we all grapple with the rapidly changing events surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, we at Butler Family Dental have been faced with some difficult decisions.
Our desire to keep our amazing team at work and to help our awesome patients maintain their oral health is now outweighed by the potential consequences of exposing anyone unnecessarily to this incredibly contagious virus.
With that in mind, we will be closed, effective immediately, except for emergencies until at least March 31.
This afternoon (3/16/2020,) we received further guidance from the American Dental Association that recommended we see emergency patients only for the next 3 weeks.
We hope to do our part in flattening the curve and prevent our healthcare facilities and those who work so hard to take care of the sick from becoming overwhelmed.
